The Experience

At the Florida Advanced Air Mobility Symposium in May 2026, I participated in discussions and demonstrations focused on the transition from AAM concept development to real-world deployment.

The symposium brought together stakeholders across:

  • eVTOL aircraft development

  • FAA certification

  • aviation infrastructure

  • vertiport planning

  • airspace integration

  • state transportation strategy

  • public-private partnerships

  • operations and commercialization

A standout part of the experience was the opportunity to fly the Joby Aviation simulator, providing a direct look at how next-generation eVTOL operations are being translated into the pilot interface and operational environment.

What I Took Away

AAM deployment is not one engineering problem.

It is the coordination of:

Aircraft + Pilot + Infrastructure + Airspace + Regulation + Operations + Community

Experiencing the Joby simulator alongside the broader policy and infrastructure discussions made that systems-level relationship especially clear.
